So if you have applied for a PAN card for the first time or are requesting a duplicate, it would be helpful to track your PAN card status and there are several ways you can do this. PAN tracking can be done both online and offline.It can be done through the NSDL or UTIITSL or even through a call or by sending an SMS. With the digitalisation of most industries, the method for PAN tracking has also evolved to embrace digital means. This has made the entire process of checking the status of your PAN card significantly easier. Whether you have applied for a new card or have requested a duplicate, it is best to keep an eye on the card’s status. There are several online channels through which you can keep an eye on your PAN card status.

 

1. Track PAN Card Status on NSDL

A behemoth in the Indian capital market, the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) is also one of the largest depositories in the world. It enables NSDL PAN card tracking efficiently and seamlessly. Read below to learn how PAN tracking has been made possible through the NSDL portal.

• Make sure to keep your acknowledgement number ready before you head to the NSDL portal to track your PAN card. The acknowledgement number is a unique 15-digit code that is generated for you as soon as you successfully finish your PAN card application.

• Head to https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html on the NSDL portal.

 

• Once on the NSDL portal for tracking your PAN card, go to the drop-     down menu for Application Type and select PAN - New/Change Request.

 

 

• In the field provided on the following line, enter the Acknowledgement Number as requested

.

 

• Authenticate the process by entering the captcha code shown on the screen. You can also opt to ask for a new captcha code. 

 

 

• Once you have entered the correct code, click on ‘Submit’, and your PAN card status will be displayed to you.

 

 

It is important to remember that the PAN card tracking through NSDL can only happen after 24 hours of the application being filed.

2. Track PAN Card Status on UTIITSL

With multiple ways to get a PAN Card, several people opt to apply for a PAN Card through UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). If you have submitted your application for a PAN card through UTIITSL, you will receive an application or application coupon number that will allow you to track your PAN card status. • For your PAN Card status check, head to the following link: https://www.trackpan.utiitsl.com/PANONLINE/trackApp.

 

• Enter your PAN card number or your application coupon number in the fields provided.

• Enter your date of birth in the format specified on the portal.

• Next, authenticate your request by entering the captcha code presented on the site.

• Once you have entered these details, click on ‘Submit.’

• The next screen will display your PAN card status.

• Ways to Track Your PAN Status Via SMS Service

 

While you have previously learnt how to track your PAN card through online channels, you should know that it is also possible to carry out PAN tracking through means that do not require a smartphone or an internet connection, such as by sending an SMS. However, it is essential to remember that it is only possible to use this method after three days after your PAN card application has been submitted. Read below to learn how to conduct your PAN card check by sending an SMS.

• Note the 15-digit acknowledgement number you received while applying for your PAN card.

• Send an SMS to 57575, with the text “NSDLPAN,” followed by the 15-digit acknowledgement number you have been issued.

• The current status of the PAN card application will be immediately sent to the mobile number registered with the application.

If you are in a hurry and need to know your PAN card status at the earliest, you can always opt to call customer care for the Tax Information Network (TIN), set up under the Indian government’s Income Tax Department (ITD). Read below to learn the process.

• You can call the TIN Customer Care team on 020-27218080 between 7 AM and 11 PM.

• You will be required to provide the customer care executive with your 15-digit acknowledgement number.

• The executive should be able to provide you with the accurate status of your PAN card application.

• If you need to know the status of your PAN card, but it is between 11 PM and 7 AM, you can always reach out to the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) service available on the same number.

Once you have received the unique 15-digit acknowledgement number relating to your PAN card application, you can easily use it for PAN tracking. This is especially useful during NSDL PAN status tracking. Read below to learn the various methods you can use to check your PAN card’s status once you have your acknowledgement number.

• Through NSDL

• By sending an SMS to 57575

• By calling the TIN Customer Care team and sharing your acknowledgement number.

 

An acknowledgement number is usually issued right after you submit your PAN application. It is immensely helpful when you are trying to learn your application’s current status.

If you want to do a PAN Card status check, but cannot find the acknowledgement number, do not worry. It is possible to check the status of your PAN card without having an acknowledgement number. • Head to the TIN-NSDL portal and select “PAN - New/Change Request” in the drop-down menu alongside the Application Type section.

• Select the ‘Name’ section that lets you check your PAN card status without using your acknowledgement number.

• Enter your first, middle, and last names in the fields provided, along with your date of birth in the required format.

 

Once you have entered all the requisite details, click on ‘Submit’ to view your PAN card status.

If you can perform neither the NSDL PAN tracking nor the UTI PAN tracking method, authenticating the details of your date of birth on the appropriate portal can be the quickest route to PAN tracking. While there is no way to check your PAN card status by only mentioning your date of birth, you can verify the PAN card by entering details of your name and date of birth. • Head to the official website for e-filing of income tax.

• Navigate to the ‘Quick Links’ section and select ‘Verify Your PAN Details’ there.

• Enter details of your PAN, full name, and date of birth, and select the requisite status.

• You will now have to authenticate the details by entering the captcha code shared.

• Once you have entered the captcha, click on ‘Submit’, and your PAN card status will be displayed for you.

In most cases, a PAN card applicant is issued a coupon number along with the 15-digit acknowledgement number. This coupon number can also be used for checking your PAN card status and assessing the UTI PAN status. Read below to learn how you can check your PAN card status by using your unique coupon number.

• Head to the UTI PAN website or Protean eGov Technologies Limited’s website.

• Navigate to the ‘Track PAN Status’ tab.

• Enter the coupon or application number you were assigned while applying for the PAN card.

• Once you have entered all these details, your screen will display your PAN card status.

Checking your PAN card status through your Aadhaar number is another way to check the status of your e-PAN card instead of opting for the UTI PAN tracking or NSDL PAN tracking. Read below to learn more.

 

• Head to the Income Tax e-filing website.

• Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number along with the captcha code in the required fields.

 

Once you have entered these details, click on ‘Submit’, and your PAN card status will be displayed on your screen.

In addition to checking the PAN card status for your application, you can also check the PAN card status for the application fees you have paid online. The payment can be made through different modes like internet banking, debit card or credit card. If you wish to track the status of the applicant fee payment transaction, all you need to do is follow the steps outlined below: 

• Step 1: Visit the official TIN NSDL website at https://www.tin-nsdl.com/ 
• Step 2: Select the 'PAN' option in the 'Services' tab.
• Step 3: Click on the 'Know Status of Your credit card/debit card/net banking transaction for online application' option.
• Step 4: Enter the required details like the 15-digit acknowledgment number or the transaction number shown on the 'Payment through credit card/debit card/net banking' page.
• Step 5: Then, submit the name of the PAN applicant
• Step 6: Enter the date of birth (in case of an individual applicant) or the date of incorporation, date of partnership, date of agreement, trust deed or the date of formation of the Body of Individuals or Association of Persons (according to the nature of the PAN applicant).
• Step 7: Once you enter these details, click on the 'Show Status' option. 
• Step 8: You can then view the transaction status online.
