SSC Ultimate Aero broke Bugatti Veyron’s high-speed record until the Veyron Super Sport came along. SSC Ultimate Aero became the fastest car in the world in 2007, hitting a top speed of 256 MPH and held the record until 2010. Koenigsegg Agera R may not be as fast as the Agera RS, but it is still one of the fastest cars in the world. The Agera R featured the iconic Koenigsegg 5 Litre V-8 engine, which could produce up to 1124 horsepower and 885 pound-feet torque. The Agera R was in production from 2011 to 2014 and set many speed records during its time. With a top speed of 260 MPH, the Koenigsegg Agera becomes the 7th fastest car in the world.

5. Bugatti Chiron - 261 MPH

Bugatti Chiron is one of the 4 Bugatti cars on this list of the top 10 fastest cars in the world. The Chiron was launched by Bugatti in 2016 as the successor to the super-popular Bugatti Veyron. The Chiron features the same 8 Litre W-16 engine but with upgraded power that can output 1479 horsepower and 1180 pound-feet of torque. Bugatti Chiron’s official top speed is 261 MPH, thereby beating Koenigsegg Agera R on this list.

6. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - 268 MPH

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was introduced as the upgraded and enhanced version of the Veyron. The Veyron Super Sport became one of the fastest cars in the world in 2010 after achieving a record speed of 267.8 MPH. The Veyron Super Sport is the most powerful version of the Veyron and packs 1184 horsepower and 1106 pound-feet torque with its powerful 8 Litre W-16 engine. The Veyron Super Sport packs even more power than the regular Bugatti Chiron.

7. Hennessey Venom GT - 270 MPH

Hennessey Venom GT was launched in 2011, but only 13 cars of this model were ever built, making Venom GT one of the rarest cars in the world. The production of the Venom GT stopped in 2017. The Venom GT hit its top speed in 2014 when it reached a high-speed of 270.4 MPH on the Kennedy Space Centre landing strip in Florida. 10. SSC Tuatara - 316 MPH

The title of the world’s fastest car goes to SSC Tuatara. In 2020, SSC Tuatara reached a high speed of 331 MPH on a seven-mile stretch of road in Nevada. Combined with its previous record of 301 MPH, the Tuatara’s two-way average speed stands at 316 MPH, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest supercar in the world.
