The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL) was established in 2000 by the Government of Karnataka. This scheme served as a special purpose vehicle aimed at providing affordable housing to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of society. 

Its primary objective is to implement both central and state housing schemes effectively, thereby facilitating housing accessibility for the underprivileged in rural and urban areas of Karnataka. To date, more than 10 lakh houses have been completed through this scheme.

Ashraya is an official online portal of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited. This was launched to simplify the application process of affordable housing schemes for residents of Karnataka.

You can easily fill up the application form for any housing scheme under RGRHCL on this portal. Through the portal, you can:

• View your RGRHCL application status and the 

• Find the beneficiary list

• Learn more about the availability of land for new schemes

• Check the number of completed houses

• Get updates on current and upcoming housing schemes

You must fulfil the following eligibility criteria for RGRHCL housing loans:

• You must be a permanent resident of the state

• You must be a woman/widow/widower/senior citizen/ex-soldier/physically challenged

• Your annual income should not be more than ₹32,000

• You should not own any flat, land, or house in any other state

• Homeless individuals can also apply under this scheme

• You must have the required documents like an Aadhaar card, identity proof, income proof, etc.

• You must not be a participant in any other similar programme

• You should not own a pucca house in Karnataka or any other part of the country

3. Get total lands available with private holders and the state/central government.

2. Click on ‘Beneficiary information.’ 

3. Enter your ‘District’ and ‘F. Number.’

4. Click on ‘Submit’, and the screen will display the status.

Following are the steps to log into the RGRHCL portal: 

1. Visit the RGRHCL official page website at ashraya.karnataka.gov.in/

2. Click on ‘Login,’ and you will get redirected to a new page.

3. Choose your district’s name from the list and click on ‘Proceed’.

4. Enter your username, password, and captcha code.

5. Click on ‘Login,’ and you will be logged in to the portal.

You can follow these steps to apply for Basava Vasati Yojana:

1. Visit the official portal Ashraya

2. Navigate to the application section

3. Enter all the required details, including personal information, such as the following:

• Name of the applicant

• Date of birth

• Father’s name

• Contact details

• Gender

• Income details

• Mandal

• District and village name

• Address of the applicant 

• Aadhaar card number 

4. Upload the requisite documents, such as your Aadhaar card and income certificate

5. Check the details and click on ‘Submit

According to this scheme, the Government will provide residents of Bengaluru with affordable one-BHK flats. However, the eligible candidates get selected via a public lottery. The applicants can choose a flat in any constituency according to their convenience.

1. Navigate to the online website of Ashraya at https://ashraya.karnataka.gov.in/Index_Kan.aspx.

2. Click on the ‘Grant Release Report’ under the ‘Reports’ tab.

3. Select the area of your residence, that is, Urban or Rural.

4. Select the year and week, and enter the Reference Number.

5. Click on ‘View’ to see the details on your screen.

Here are the steps to check the name correction report on RGRHCL:

1. Browse the official portal of RGRHCL

2. Click on ‘Reports’ on the top menu bar

3. Wait to get redirected and click on ‘Name Correction Report’

4. Choose between ‘Rural’ or ‘Urban’ from the top bar, and proceed to choose the scheme based on the district

The ideal time to apply for the RGRHCL is the first week of January. This is because the gram panchayat revises its applicants' list on a yearly basis. Here, the applicants need to submit Form Number 1 to register their respective applications.

According to a Datamation Consultants Pvt Ltd study, RGRHCL has provided 2.3 lakh houses to its beneficiaries per year. Among these, 2.24 lakh houses lie in rural areas, and the remaining 0.06 lakh houses lie in urban areas.
