Features of Himachal Health Care Scheme

  • Eligibility Criteria:

Assistance is provided to families who are not covered under Ayushman Bharat. This is based on the SECC, 2011 and RSBY which ensures that targeted assistance is provided to those who need it. 

  • Cashless Treatment on Co-payment Basis:

Underprivileged individuals in Himachal Pradesh can receive cashless treatments with a co-payment arrangement. 

  • Implementation Date:

Officially launched on January 1, 2019, by the Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Benefits of Himachal Health Care Scheme

  • Coverage Amount:

Cashless treatments provide a cover of ₹5 Lakhs annually per family which is on a floater basis. This can cover up to five family members. 

  • Family Size Extension:

Families that exceed the cap of five members can enrol the pending members as a separate unit. Each separate unit is capped at five members. 

  • Treatment at Empanelled Hospitals:

Treatments under HIMCARE are based on pre-defined package rates. This helps with providing affordable healthcare services and standardise hospitalisation policies.

Who is Eligible for the Himachal Health Care Scheme?

The following category of people are eligible for the HIMCARE health scheme:

  • BPL Category people

  • Registered Street Vendors

  • Ekal Naaris

  • More than 40% of disabled

  • Senior Citizens above the age of 70 years

  • Anganwari Workers/Helpers

  • ASHA workers

  • Mid-day meal workers

  • Contractual Employees

  • Daily Wage Worker

  • Part-time Workers

  • Beneficiaries under HP Universal Health Protection Scheme

  • Beneficiaries not included in the above categories/non–government servants and their dependents

Documents Required

The documents required when applying for HIMCARE are Aadhar card and Ration card. Additionally, you will need to provide proof of category as listed below:

  • For BPL Category -

Copy of BPL certificate attested by the Panchayat Secretary in the last one month. 

  • For Registered Street Vendors -

Registration Certificate attested by an executive Officer. Attested by an MC/NP/NAC in the last one month.

  • For Ekal Naaris -

Certificate issued by Child Development Program Officer (CDPO) of the respective location. Must include Widows/Divorced/Legally Separated /Unmarried status if more than 40 years.

  • For More than 40% of disabled persons -

Medical Disability Certificate showing permanent disability.

  • For Senior citizens aged 70 years and above -

Valid proof of age.

  • For Anganwari Workers and Helpers -

Certificate from Child Development Program Officer (CDPO) of the concerned area.

  • For ASHA Workers -

Certificate from Block Medical Officer (BMO) of the concerned area.

  • For Mid-day Meal Workers -

Certificate from Block Elementary Education Officer of the concerned area.

  • For Contractual Employees, Daily Wage Worker, Part-Time Workers -

How to Apply for Himachal Health Care Scheme

To apply for the HIMCARE scheme online, follow these steps:
