Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 mandates it for every motorised vehicle to have an RTO Vehicle Registration. There are two types of registration that can be done for a vehicle - temporary and permanent. However, it must be kept in mind that temporary registration remains valid for a period of one month since the date of issue. It cannot be renewed. In order to get vehicle registration in AP, you can visit the nearest AP RTO office.
It is done by the dealer at the time of purchasing a car and remains valid for one month. Application for the permanent RC must be made within the stipulated time period.
Under section 39 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1998, the permanent registration of all vehicles that run on the roads must be registered at the RTO. If you want to get a permanent vehicle registration in Andhra Pradesh, go to the RTO Andhra Pradesh office or visit the AP RTO website.
Step 1: Fill up Form 20, which serves as an application form.
Step 2: Once you fill up Form 20 with all the necessary information and submit it to the AP RTO in your respective zone.
Step 3: Provide the list of required documents for the permanent number

When you get a temporary registration, it becomes your duty to apply for AP Permanent Vehicle Registration. However, before you can do that you also need to get your vehicle insured. When looking for an affordable yet wide coverage-providing plan, make sure you visit Bajaj Markets and get a good motor insurance plan for your vehicle. Depending on your requirements, you can purchase either of the two options available. All you need are some basic info such as your AP vehicle registration number details and you can purchase either of the following in a few minutes:
Mandated by the Motor Vehicle Act, third party insurance covers the damages that you cause to a third party.
As the name suggests, this insurance offers wider coverage, along with third-party liability it also covers the damages that are caused to your vehicle.
RTO Andhra Pradesh grants and renews learner, permanent and international driving licences.
The RTO provides registration service to vehicles, be it, temporary or permanent, transfer of ownership or assigning a number upon registration. You can use their official website to get AP vehicle registration number details. The website also allows you to do an AP vehicle registration search.
Andhra Pradesh RTO also collects one-time road tax, motor vehicle tax and other taxes as per the MVA provisions. And it also penalises for violations of transportation laws.
Issuance of permits to commercial vehicles like cabs, taxis, school buses, three-wheelers, etc are done by RTO AP. It also conducts pollution tests and mechanical tests of any vehicle that enters an accident.
One of the prime tasks of RTO office AP is to inspect the insurance of a vehicle and check if it is registered under the MVA.
As per the guidelines of RTO Office Andhra Pradesh, Registration Certificates of vehicles need to be renewed after 15 years from its first registration and every 5 years since then. You can get good car insurance policies online or offline, however, with Bajaj Markets buying and renewing insurance becomes very simple and convenient. Your driving licence is legal for 20 years from the date when it is issued or until you reach the age of 50 years. Thereafter you have to renew your licence every 5 years.
As per RTO AP a transport vehicle licence is valid for 3 years from the date of its issue or renewal.
This depends on your purpose and period of visit. If you are going to stay in the state of Andhra Pradesh for more than a year, you would need to re-register your vehicle with Andhra Pradesh RTO. Else, for a short stay, it is not required.
