Under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, Bihar RTOs were created around the state and it oversees the Bihar Transport Department. To govern road transport and provide safety measures, the Bihar Transport Department enforces various legislative provisions under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and various rules under the State Taxation Acts, etc. The Bihar RTO Code list is elaborate with 50+ RTOs in it. Permanent and temporary registration certificates, trade certificates, renewal and duplicate registration copies, ownership transfer, NOC, and other services are provided by the Bihar RTO.
