Vehicle Registration at Bihar RTO

The Bihar vehicle registration process is overseen by the Bihar RTO. In order to legally operate a vehicle in the region, vehicle owners must register their vehicle with the Bihar RTO under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

There are two types of Bihar vehicle registration process: Temporary and Permanent.

  • The temporary registration is valid for a short time frame. In this, the vehicle's dealer can provide you with the registration. All you have to do is present the documents to the dealer, and they will supply you with a temporary number via point registration. It will subsequently be forwarded to the RTO for approval.

  • Permanent registration has a 15-year validity period and is exclusively available through the Bihar RTO. You may also visit https://state.bihar.gov.in/transport/CitizenHome.html and apply for the same. On this website you can also do the Bihar vehicle registration number check.

Here is the list of documents required for the Bihar vehicle registration process.

  • Form 20

  • Form 21

  • Form 22A, or the vehicle's manufacturer's roadworthiness certificate

  • If the car is purchased on loan, the financer must provide Form 28 or a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

  • Purchase invoice

  • PAN card or Form 60

  • Vehicle insurance certificate

  • Resident proof

  • Passport size photographs

  • Road tax as per Haryana state

  • In the event of loan hypothecation, use Form 34

  • Temporary registration certificate (if applicable)

  • If the vehicle is imported, the Customs Clearance certificate will be required.

  • If the vehicle's previous owner was an ex-army member, the sale certificate must be presented.

  • If the vehicle is a trailer or semi-trailer, the STA design approval is required.

Bihar RTO employees verify the aforementioned documents, and the vehicle is also inspected. If everything matches appropriately, the applicant is given a registration number.

Every registered vehicle must be insured under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. There are two forms of vehicle insurance: Third-party liability and Comprehensive insurance. These can be purchased both online and in person. To ensure a smooth experience and save time, use the Bajaj Markets platform to purchase vehicle insurance. Bajaj Markets does not provide insurance; nonetheless, there are some organizations on the platform that sell motor insurance online through the portal. You can buy from any of them.
