Through its network of 89 Regional Transport Offices, RTO Tamil Nadu keeps a track of all private and commercial vehicles plying in the state. Not just this, RTO Tamil Nadu also ensures conformance to traffic rules, awareness of road safety regulations, display of proper signage and other key administrative policies.
All applications for vehicle registration, driving licence, pollution control certificates, etc. are to be made at the nearest RTO. The office is also responsible for collection of excise duty via road taxes and other related fees and charges. Tamil Nadu RTO codes are uniquely assigned to help identify the district office, such as TN 01 for Chennai Central or TN 37 for Coimbatore.

RTOs regulate the purchase, movement and ownership of vehicles in the state. They are also responsible for ensuring road safety. An important component of road safety protocol is motor insurance. Upon purchasing a vehicle, whether two-wheeler or four-wheeler, you can go online and buy auto insurance on Bajaj Markets and have it activated instantly. Motor insurance offers speedy claims settlement and cashless repairs, service and maintenance of cars along with important features such as road assistance.
