Steps to Register a New Vehicle in Uttar Pradesh

  1. Visit the nearest RTO office in Uttar Pradesh or apply online through the Parivahan website

  2. Submit the required documents, including:

    • Form 20: Application for Vehicle Registration

    • Form 21: Dealer’s Sales Certificate

    • Form 22: Manufacturer’s Roadworthiness Certificate

    • Insurance certificate

    • Proof of address (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, etc.)

    • PAN card or Form 60 (if PAN is unavailable)

    • Temporary registration certificate (if applicable)

  3. Pay the applicable registration fees according to your vehicle type

Steps to Renew Vehicle Registration in Uttar Pradesh

Transferring Vehicle Ownership in Uttar Pradesh

If a vehicle is purchased through a public auction, the buyer must submit Form 32 to the RTO within 30 days of taking possession of the vehicle, along with the applicable fees and taxes.

How to Apply for a Driving Licence at Uttar Pradesh RTO

Online Application Process

While the application for a driving licence can be initiated online, you will still need to visit the local RTO office in Uttar Pradesh to provide biometric data and complete the mandatory driving test. 

To apply online, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Parivahan website

  2. Click on the "Drivers/ Learners Licence" option

  3. Select Uttar Pradesh from the state list

  4. You will be redirected to the Sarathi website

  5. Choose either "Apply for Learner Licence" or "Apply for Driving Licence”

  6. Complete the application process as outlined:

    • Fill in your personal and application details

    • Upload the necessary documents

    • Upload your photo and signature (for eKYC via Aadhaar, only the signature needs to be uploaded)

    • Book a test slot for your learner’s licence

    • Make the payment for the application

    • Verify the payment status and print the receipt

  7. You will receive an application number via your registered email and mobile number

  8. To schedule your driving licence test, enter your application number and date of birth

  9. After making the payment, print the application form and payment slip. Bring these documents on the day of your driving test.

Offline Application Process at the RTO

If you prefer to apply offline, you can visit the nearest RTO in Uttar Pradesh to submit your application. 

 

Here’s how to proceed:

  1. Visit the local RTO and fill out the application form

  2. Submit the form with the required documents and passport-size photographs

  3. The RTO officer will verify your information and determine if you are eligible for the driving test

  4. If you opt for a Smart Card driving licence, an additional fee of ₹200 will be charged

  5. The driving test will be scheduled and conducted in the presence of a Motor Vehicle Inspector

  6. Upon passing the test, your driving licence will be sent to your registered address

  7. If you do not pass, you can reattempt the test after 7 days

Renewal of Driving Licence in Uttar Pradesh

To renew your driving licence in Uttar Pradesh, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Sarathi website

  2. Select Uttar Pradesh and your district

  3. You will be redirected to the Sarathi renewal page

  4. Click on the option to "Apply for DL Renewal”

  5. Pay a renewal fee of ₹50 if renewing within 30 days of the licence’s expiry
