You can pay the stamp duty and fees for property registration in Madhya Pradesh online. Here are the steps you need to follow:
1. Visit the official website of the Inspector General of Registration and Superintendent of Stamps, Commercial Taxes Department.
2. Click on ‘e Stamp Verification’ on the right side of the homepage.
3. After a new window opens, enter the e-stamp ID, CAPTCHA, and click ‘Search’ to move to the payments option.
4. Pay the charges using a suitable payment option such as debit/credit card, net banking UPI, etc.
5. After the payment is successful, you will receive a transaction receipt and digitally stamped document.
E-stamping is an online process for paying stamp duty on property transactions to the government. This method has simplified the payment of stamp duty. Here are the steps:
Go to the official website of the Inspector General of Registration and the Superintendent of Stamps, Commercial Taxes Department.
On the homepage, click on ‘SAMPADA’.
You will see the SAMPADA Login Page, where new users can create a username and log in, while existing users can log in directly.
After logging in, enter the required details and make the payment online.
Download your e-stamp certificate or receipt once the payment is successful.
Check available appointment slots for your visit to the SRO.
In MP, registry fee for property and stamp duty can also be paid offline at the nearby Sub-Registrar’s office. If you wish to make this payment offline at the SRO office, take the original deed documents with you. You can make the payment via cash, demand draft, debit, or credit card.
Also, some post offices and banks offer the facility to collect stamp duty, and you can visit them as per convenience.

You can get a stamp duty refund if you have paid the charges, but the purchase does not go through. However, the condition applies where you can only claim a refund within 6 months of the payment of stamp duty.
To get a refund, you must apply for reimbursement to the Deputy Commissioner. After verification, 10% of the stamp duty amount will be deducted and the remaining funds will be transferred back. However, the registration fee on any registered property cannot be refunded.
Under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act 1961, you can claim a tax exemption on stamp duty of up to ₹1.5 Lakhs. When filing an income tax return, you can claim a refund on the paid stamp duty. However, you can do this only within 1 year of the property purchase. Keep in mind that this does not apply to business properties.
