For ease of compliance, the Union Government launched a new Income Tax e-Filing portal in 2021.
To make compliance easier and more convenient, the Income Tax Department replaced the existing income tax portal with an updated version in 2021. The new portal is referred to as Income Tax e-Filing 2.0.

The Income Tax e-filing 2.0 portal comes with a lot of efficiency-boosting features and benefits suiting newer generations of taxpayers. A few of them are as follows:
Taxpayers can access all the necessary information regarding their ITR assessment, refunds, e-verification, and more on a single dashboard. This streamlines the entire process of income tax filing, making it extremely easy for taxpayers to take follow-up actions.

This is a TDS certificate issued to you by your employer that provides details about salary, deductions, and the TDS deposited.

You also need to collect certificates from your banks, post office, or other financial institutions consisting of details about the interest on various deposits.
It is a statement of the financial transactions you have executed in the previous fiscal year.
This is a statement providing information about all the taxes deducted against your PAN and deposited in the government’s account.
To claim deductions under Sections 80C, CCC, CCD, E, and G, you need to have the investment-related proofs.

The new electronic filing system is the Income Tax e-filing 2.0 portal. This replaced the old portal as of June 7, 2021.
To file ITR online, visit the new tax e-filing portal and register yourself. Then, you can log in, enter the necessary details, choose your preferred mode of e-filing, and upload the necessary documents. You must then remember to e-verify your ITR within 30 days.
The due date for individuals and HUFs e-filing ITR is July 31.
To check your ITR filing status, log in to the e-filing portal using your user ID and password. Then, click on the 'View Returns/ Forms' option from under the 'Dashboard' menu. Select the assessment year and ITR form number and submit. You can then view the current status of your ITR filing.
To generate an e-PAN, you need to visit the e-filing portal and click on the ‘Instant e-PAN’ option. Once you arrive on the new page, click on the ‘Get New PAN’ tab. Enter your Aadhaar Card number and hit the continue button.
Validate the action by entering the OTP received on the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar card. Accept the terms and conditions to complete the process and generate an e-PAN.
