The Minimum Amount Due (MAD) is the mandatory partial payment of the outstanding credit card bill that the issuer expects you to pay. The bank generally calculates the minimum amount due by considering 5% of your outstanding credit card balance. It may also include any unpaid minimum amount from previous statements.

Your credit card company generates your card’s statement on the 10th of every month and the due date of your bill payment is the 20th of every month.
Total credit card bill: ₹10,000
Minimum Amount Due: ₹500 (5% of your total bill)
You need to pay ₹500 before the 20th to avoid any late payment penalties. However, it is essential to remember that the remaining amount of ₹9,500 will attract interest, as stated in the credit card provider’s MITC document.
