FASTag is enabled by the technology of RFID, and it is necessary in India for all vehicles to have the tag affixed to the windshield. Toll payments are made immediately from your linked savings, current, or prepaid account using the RFID FASTag. It also allows you to travel through toll plazas on National Highways around the country without having to stop and pay in cash.
To issue and administer FASTag accounts, the Ministry has certified 22 banks and e-commerce platforms like Paytm. The following is a list of FASTag Banks, along with their phone numbers:

The Government of India (GOI) decided to make it mandatory for all four-wheeler vehicles to have a FASTag installed in order to reduce long lines and traffic bottlenecks across the country. This tool would allow them to pass through all toll plazas operated by the National Highways Authority of India without stopping to pay in cash.
The FASTag employs a Radio Frequency Technology Device (RFID) to detect the tag on a vehicle and deduct the amount from the associated digital wallet as the toll tax amount, eliminating the need for human collection of tax in cash at toll plazas. More information about the FASTag can be found on Bajaj Markets website.
