• MHIP Day

Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) Day is a public holiday in Mizoram that falls on the 6th of July every year. MHIP translates to ‘binding women together,’ and this day commemorates the establishment of the state's largest women's welfare organisation. 

• Rath Yatra

The Rath Yatra is a major religious event celebrated in Odisha, where people from all states of India attend. During this Yatra, devotees pull the large chariots of Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra with their sister Subhadra for a three-kilometre journey to Gundicha Temple.

• Harela

Harela is celebrated at the onset of the rainy season when farmers sow seeds for the next harvest cycle. This festival was officially recognised and declared a public holiday in 2020 by former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat. 

• Muharram

On 17th July 2024, Muharram will mark the beginning of the new year according to the Islamic lunar Hijri calendar. On this day, the Shia community mourns the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain. On the other hand, Sunnis observe this day by fasting. 

• U Tirot Sing Day

The state government of Meghalaya celebrates 17th July as U Tirot Sing Day in honour of the freedom fighter Tirot Singh. 

• Bonalu
