PM KUSUM Yojana is a scheme launched by the Indian government to help farmers install solar irrigation pumps in their farms. Under this scheme, farmers can get a 60% subsidy (30% from Central Financial Assistance (CFA) and 30% from the State Government)) and a 30% as loan from a bank.

Farmers can apply for the KUSUM Yojana by following the steps outlined below.

  • Step 1: Visit the KUSUM Yojana's official website

  • Step 2: Log in with your username and password

  • Step 3: Click on ‘Apply’ located on the main page

  • Step 4: Fill out the form with your name, number, email, and other required details

  • Step 5: Click on ‘Submit’ after filling out all of the required information

     

 

 

Once done, you will receive a notification indicating ‘Successfully Registered’ after submitting the application form.

Who is eligible for PM KUSUM Yojana?

The eligibility for PM KUSUM Yojana varies depending on the component. For example, for Component A, Independent farmers, groups of farmers, cooperatives or panchayats, Farmer Producer Organisations, and Water User Associations are eligible. 

What are the different types of installations under PM KUSUM Yojana?

Farmers can apply for three different components under the KUSUM Yojana. Component A allows farmers to use their land to set up solar power plants within 5 KMs of a power station. 

With Component B, farmers can install a standalone solar pump for irrigation. Under Component C, farmers can get financial support of up to ₹10 Lakhs for the solarization of the existing grid.

What happens to the extra generated solar electricity?

Farmers can sell the extra electricity to their local electricity distribution companies or DISCOMs.
