Online Application Process

1. Visit the Parivahan website https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan//en

 

2. Choose “Drivers/ Learners Licence” tab

 

3. Select Uttar Pradesh from the drop-down list

 

4. You’ll be redirected to the https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelectBean.do page

 

5. Click on “Apply for Learner Licence” or “Apply for Driving Licence” 

 

6. Here’s a quick procedure to follow:

• Fill application details

• Upload documents

• Upload photo and signature (in case of eKYC through aadhaar, only signature needs to be uploaded)

• Book a test slot for your learning licence test

• Make fee payment

• Verify the payment status

• Print the receipt

 

7. Your application number will be sent to your email and your phone number

 

8. To book a slot for your driving licence exam, you need to enter your application number and your date of birth

 

9. After making the payment, print your application form and payment slip. You need to carry them with you on the date of your driving licence exam.

Offline Application Process at RTO

You can apply for a driving licence through offline mode too. Here are the steps:

After you successfully clear the driving test, you will get the driving licence at your residence. 

You can check your DL status UP online with these steps:

1. Go to the official Sarathi website (https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelection.do)

2. Select the state of ‘Uttar Pradesh’

3. Select the ‘Application Status’ option

4. Fill in your date of birth and application number to get the application status

The driving license renewal process in Uttar Pradesh can be completed online or offline. Let's check out the following processes:

Online Renewal Process

If you find out your driving licence has expired, you can follow a few simple steps to renew it: 

1. Visit the website

2. Select the state name

3. You will be redirected to https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelectBean.do

4. Click on “Apply for DL Renewal”

5. You’ll have to pay a fee of ₹50, to renew your driving licence (if renewed within 30 days)

6. Additional late fees of ₹50 must be paid in case of delay. If you opt for Smart Car Driving Licence, an extra fee of Rs. 200 will be charged as well

Offline Renewal Process

• Visit the nearest RTO

• Carry the duly filled forms as mentioned above. You can then upload them on Parivahan portal

• Submit the forms along with the required documents

• Pay the fees and retain the receipt

• After verification, the driving licence will be sent to the registered address

If your driver's license is lost, damaged, or stolen, you have two options to obtain a duplicate. The documents required are as follows:

1. Application form LLD

2. FIR copy if the DL is stolen

3. Challan clearance report issued by traffic police in case of commercial driving licence

4. Form 1

5. Copy of age proof and address proof

6. Copy of original licence

7. Licence number if the licence is stolen

 

The copies of the documents need to be attested before submission. The process below must be followed for obtaining a duplicate driving licence.

 

Here are the steps you need to follow to apply for a duplicate driving licence in Uttar Pradesh:

 

To apply online:

• Visit https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelectBean.do to apply online

• Select “Apply for Duplicate DL” and follow the instructions

 

To apply offline:

• Visit your nearest RTO office

• Complete the application form and attach the copies of your original document

• Submit the form at the RTO and pay a fee of ₹200

• Get your duplicate driving licence copy after verification

 

Once verified, you will receive a copy of your licence on that very day.

In order to get an international driving licence in UP, you can visit your nearest RTO to apply for a permit. You can apply online too for the licence. There is no test required for the same, but you do require a permanent driving licence and the below documents.

 

Here’s a list of documents you will need to apply for an international driving licence:

• Nationality proof

• Attested copy of the permanent driving licence, visa, and passport

• Attested copy of a residence proof

• 5 passport-sized photos

• Medical Form 1-A

 

Here are the steps you can follow to apply for the permit:

• Visit the Sarathi Parivahan portal and select Uttar Pradesh

• You will be redirected to https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelectBean.do

• Select ‘Apply for International Driving Permit (IDP)’

• Read the instructions and begin your application by clicking ‘Continue’

• Fill in applicant-related details, upload documents and photo and book your test (only needed for Additional Endorsement of Driving Licence)

• Pay the fees and print or download the receipt

 

You can also apply for an international driver licence in UP offline, by visiting the RTO, filling out the application form 4A, and attaching the required documents. You will be required to pay a certain fee for the same.

Every driver’s licence applicant must pass the driving test to get their licence. The test is conducted in the presence of a Motor Vehicle Inspector. This will happen at the applicant’s local RTO and is conducted with the applicant’s own vehicle. 

• Test for Two or Three-Wheeler

This test typically requires the applicant to drive the vehicle on a track in figure 8. They will have to do so in the indicated area without their feet touching the ground, and without brushing against the side rails. If this test is cleared, the applicant is required to ride a certain distance on the road following all traffic rules and regulations.

• Test for Four Wheeler

This test is similar to the previous one, the applicants are asked to drive in an H, while avoiding obstacles in their course. The applicant can then proceed to the road test. If the applicant fails the test, they can retake it a week later after paying a nominal fee.
