Explore all the ways to link your UAN with your Aadhar
Section 142 of the Social Security Code 2020, makes it mandatory that employees link their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) accounts with their Aadhaar cards. Every EPF account has a Universal Account Number (UAN) which needs to be seeded with the Aadhaar number of the employee. There are several advantages of linking your 12-digit Aadhaar number with your EPF account. As an employee, you can do the UAN-Aadhaar linking in any of the following ways:
Through the EPFO website
By visiting the local EPFO office
By downloading the UMANG app
Through OTP verification on e-KYC portal of EPFO
Through biometric credentials
You can easily link your Aadhaar Card with your EPF account online on the official EPFO website by following the below-mentioned steps:
Visit the official EPFO website - epfindia.gov.in
Now, click on 'Aadhaar', enter your Aadhaar number and name and click on 'Save'
Once your details have been verified, your Aadhaar will be linked to your EPF account. You will also be able to see the 'Verified' mark against your Aadhaar details.
Employees who are not comfortable with the online mode can link their Aadhaar card with their EPF account by visiting their nearest EPFO office. Steps to link Aadhaar with EPF account in the offline mode are:
Obtain the application form for 'Aadhaar Seeding' from the EPFO office
Fill in your UAN, Aadhaar and all other details
Attach self-attested copies of your UAN, PAN and Aadhaar with the form
Submit the form at any EPFO office/ Common Service Centre outlets
Once verification is successfully completed, your EPF-Aadhaar link will be confirmed
Finally, a message of successful linking will be sent to your registered mobile number.
UMANG -Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance is a Government of India initiative. You can easily link your Aadhaar with your EPF account through the UMANG app by following the steps below:
First, download the UMANG App (from Google Play Store/ Apple Store)
Enter your registered mobile number
Login either using the 'MPIN' or using OTP
Go to the 'All Services' tab and select 'EPFO'
Under the EPF section, click on 'e-KYC services'
Select the 'Aadhaar Seeding' option under the 'e-KYC Services'
Now enter your UAN and click on 'Get OTP'
You will now get an OTP on the mobile number registered with your EPF Account
Enter your Aadhaar details and an OTP will once again be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
Upon OTP verification, your UAN will be successfully linked with your Aadhaar number
You can also link your Aadhaar through OTP-based verification on the e-KYC portal on the EPFO website. You need to follow the steps below to link your Aadhaar with your EPF account using the OTP-based verification:
Visit the official EPFO website - epfindia.gov.in
Now, select 'Link UAN Aadhaar' from the 'EPFO Members' menu
Enter your UAN and your registered mobile number. You will receive an OTP on your mobile
Enter the OTP received in the designated space on the next page and click on 'Submit'
Now, on the next page, enter your Aadhaar number. Again, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
Enter the OTP received and the captcha text and click on the 'Submit' button
Once your details are verified with the UIDAI data, your Aadhaar number will be successfully linked with your EPF account
You can also link your Aadhaar number with your EPF account using your biometric credentials through e-KYC on the EPFO portal by following the below-mentioned steps:
Visit the official EPFO website and select 'Link UAN Aadhaar' from the 'EPFO Members' menu
Enter your registered mobile number and UAN number in the designated space. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number
Enter the OTP received and click on 'Submit'
Now, on the next page, enter your Aadhaar number
Select the 'Using Biometrics' option for Aadhaar verification
Your biometrics will be collected using the connected registered biometrics device
Finally, type the captcha and click on 'Submit'
Your details will now be verified with the UIDAI data. Upon successful verification, your Aadhaar will be linked with your EPF account.

Visit the official EPFO website and log in using your UAN and password
You can find the Aadhaar number linked with your EPF account on the member's homepage
If 'Verified ( DEMOGRAPHIC)' is mentioned against your Aadhaar number, your Aadhaar number is linked with your EPF account
The EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organisation) has requested its members to link their EPF account and Aadhaar for ease in verifying their details. The benefits of the EPF-Aadhar linking are:
Reduces Errors: When your Aadhaar is linked with your EPF and UAN, the chances of mistakes and discrepancies are significantly less, as your information is consistent with your Aadhaar card details

No, you can link only one mobile number with an EPF account.

No, it is not possible to seed your Aadhaar number with your EPF account if your mobile number is not registered with your Aadhaar and with the EPFO.

Click on the 'Forgot Password' option
Provide your UAN with CAPTCHA
An OTP will be sent on your mobile number seeded with your UAN

For filing an online claim of your EPF, seeding your UAN with Aadhaar is mandatory.
EPFO has instructed the employers that ECR-Electronic Challan cum Return will not be filled in cases where there is no PF-Aadhaar link or the UAN is not Aadhaar verified. It means that though employees can see their own PF account contribution, they will not get the employer's share.
You can check whether your UAN is linked with your Aadhaar on the EPFO portal. Just log in using your UAN and password. If your Aadhaar is linked with your UAN, you will be able to find the same on the member’s homepage and 'Verified (DEMOGRAPHIC)' will be mentioned against your Aadhaar.
You can link your Aadhaar with your UAN without logging in to your EPF account by following the below-mentioned steps:
Visit the EPFO website and click on 'eKYC Portal' under 'Online Services'
Now select 'Link UAN Aadhaar', enter your UAN and mobile number and click on 'Generate OTP'
Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and then, enter your Aadhaar number in the designated space and click on 'Submit'
Again, you will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-registered mobile number. Enter this OTP and click on 'Submit'
If your EPF account details match your Aadhaar details, your Aadhaar will be successfully seeded with your UAN
There are no charges associated with linking your Aadhaar and EPF account through the UMANG app.
